Hi Russ - thanks so much for your question! Barre chords are challenging at first!! Here's a great video with plenty of tips and tricks in getting them down: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PlY3ngFeoPU Hope this helps!

Beginner here my question is I’m getting like a vibration sound on the strings when I apply pressure how do I get rid of that?
Mike Olekshy 1 year ago

Hello, thanks so much for your question! Make sure your finger is pressing down in between the fret wire, and with enough pressure to eliminate buzzing or "vibration". But make sure to not press too hard onto the fret, as this could cause fatigue as well as tuning issues. Generally speaking, you want to press the tip of your finger into the string and on to the fret coming in at a 90 degree angle to the fretboard. Fret a note, and pick it. If there's any buzzing or vibration, you want to apply a little more pressure. This can be challenging at first, so keep at it - you'll get it!!

How do I keep track of when I finish a lesson. After I close my computer and come back and start, it looks like I am starting over again.

Hello - thanks so much for your question. Navigate to the "Features" tab located at the top of the GuitarTricks homepage. Click on it, and select "Lesson Progress And History" - and you'll see all the lessons you've watched and where you left off. Hope this helps!

Hi there, new student, I haven't got a clue what I am supposed to be doing with this? 'Another Simple Melody' What are the notes? Thank you, Brian
Mike Olekshy 1 year ago

Hello - thanks so much for your question! This lesson is simply an exercise in picking and fretting notes and playing a simple melody. The notes are D, E, and F - played with the open D string, 2nd fret of the D string, and 3rd fret of the D string, respectively. Hope this helps!

Hi, is it best to be using your fingers or a pick at this stage?
Mike Olekshy 1 year ago

Hello - thanks so much for your question! At this stage, Anders is still using his thumb/fingers to play notes. But if you are comfortable using a pick, by all means - do it! Either techniques are acceptable at this stage.
