Here's a problem I have with quite a few chords - my fingers will not cooperate and stay on the strings/frets where they should be as per Anders and other reviews I see on line like how to play the ## chord. I must use alternate finger positioning in order to play a chord clean, two examples in this lesson ---
Dsus4 --- I must use Index on the 2nd fret G string, Ring on the 3rd fret of the B string and pinky on the 3rd fret high E string.
D chord --- Middle finger for the 2nd fret G string, Ring on the 3rd fret D string, and Index finger on the 2nd fret high E string.
So you can see the combination of fingers I must use, not quite ethical, but no matter how long I try to use the "correct" finger placement, my fingers will not cooperate.
I'm at a point to --- not fight it, it is what it is.
But for this lesson it is a major issue trying to change from the Dsus4 to D with my altered finger combination.
I can play this lesson, very ---- slow --- and not with the video. I tried countless times at .75 speed and I can't keep up. My myself is "ok" but not polished.
That is the issue I have with different chord shapes especially the Dsus4 switching to D, I can play both with my modified fingers but always a pause getting my fingers re-positioned for the D.
Thanks,
Bob

Hey there - thanks so much for your question! Yes, unfortunately, your alternate fingerings are posing a problem switching between D and Dsus4! I would encourage you to keep working on the regular fingering for D so that the Dsus4 is easier. I know this is frustrating and may take a lot of work to build into your technique, but it will be worth it! Work on this for 2-5 mins every practice session. Take your time - eventually your muscles will loosen so that it will begin to feel effortless.
One other alternate fingering to try -- use the index finger to barre down at the 2nd fret of the top 3 strings. Then add the middle or ring onto the 3rd fret of the B string. For Dsus4 - either flatten that B string finger onto the 3rd fret of the high string, or add another finger there.
Keep at it - it will come!! Hope this helps!!
