Horizontal Major Scale

Description

Before we start making music with this new scale pattern, let's quickly put on our lab coat and learn an extremely useful lesson about the major scale. One of the great things about this one-string scale pattern is that we can clearly see if we're moving up a half step (which is one fret) or a whole step (which is two frets).

The major scale formula is whole, whole, half, whole, whole, whole, half. If you can memorize this formula it means that without knowing any theory, you can start on any note and find the notes of that major scale.
