Lesson 7: Conclusion/Jam

In this tutorial, we have looked at a wealth of Albert King's licks and approaches to the blues. Take the time to check out some of Albert King's records and listen for some of these ideas in his aggressive style. Again, the idea of this tutorial is to not have you play just like Albert King, but to be inspired. In this last video, I am going to do just that by playing over a 12 Bar Blues using my own licks inspired by Albert King. Take care and thanks for watching!

Hi Anders. Really enjoying the course and notice I'm improving. I just feel I'm started to get a bit overwhelmed by the number of riffs to try and remember. Appreciate, that it might well be a case of just remembering the ones I like and to make those my own but seems a shame to learn a riff and then forget it almost instantly. Any advice?

Hello - and thanks so much for your question! This is a common scenario when working through a course - you'll learn a ton of great riffs and licks, and sometimes it can be overwhelming to try and remember everything. I think a good strategy is to try to remember the ones you like for sure, but beyond that, it's the overall concepts Anders is teaching that you should really be leaning on. That way, you can make everything he teaches your own by experimenting and discovering riffs and licks that you create! Of course, in the Blues, there are very common riffs and forms that you must know cold, but everything else beyond that is just variations. So having a solid understanding of the concepts will help you navigate those musical scenarios. Hope this makes sense!!
