Description
Another step in our progression forward with the Jazz Blues is the addition of a #4 diminished chord. This essentially means that we are taking the IV chord in our progression, and moving up one half step before we go back to the I chord. This substitution occurs on bars 5 (IV chord) and 6 (#4 diminished.) Working with this chord change is key in being able to hear the harmony being spelled out in Jazz Blues, and the diminished chord is just one of the many new chords you will discover.
