Description
Our next step in the flow of Jazz Blues is working with "Secondary Dominants." These chords are used when playing any Dom.7 chord that leads to it's I chord. While it may be outside of the tonal center of the progression, these substitutions always do a great job of exploring new harmony and leading to other chords. In this example, we will play a G7(#9) chord (VI dominant chord) on bar 8 of our blues. This leads us to the II chord (C minor) very nicely. Let's take a look at how to play this chord and how to add it to our progression.
