Playing between a vocalists' phrases has always been an essential part of the blues. In doing this, you can't help but play with some limitations and this accounts for some shorter, much more meaningful phrases. It truly is the notes you don't play that matter, and in this lesson we are going jam together and practice this idea. Playing a slow blues in Ab, let's solo back and forth and work hard to play very short melodic phrases. The listener will take much more away from this than if you play too much. Let's play!
