The appearance, the sound and the sustain of a Les Paul guitar are famous...I would really like to own one. Thanks for the good contest and good rules.

hey Jon ! Good reveiw of the epiphones . I play a Les Paul standard myself and your desire to own one is well founded ! Awesome guitar ! The Ultra sounds a lot like the LP . If i win the contest I'll do a head to head reveiw for you !

I've played an Epi Les Paul Standard If Either of these play that well they would be great guitars to own or win .
I Also would like to see some reviews on the sg models as the gibsons are a little to high priced for my budget.
great review I like the sustain test.

I had an Epi les Paul special for a time. lovely guitar. now my grandson has it and thinks I'm the greatest Grandad. :-) :o

I currently own an epiphone acoustic, its actually the best, but not the only guitar I'ved owned. I'ved comtemplated getting an electric, these both appear to be especially nice. I'm only a beginner, but only for a short while.

That sounds like a really nice feature. Any chance on your next review you could have some recorded sound(s)? Next time I'm near the a store that carries this I'm definatly going to check it out. It would be nice to hear a sampling online with the review, especially with the price of gas (guess THAT has a dual meaning  )!

Hello - My name is Jay and I have been playing guitar for Thirty-Seven years. I have owned and played many guitars but I could never afford a Les Paul. I have played them and I am in love with them. It is my dream to own one and I hope that by entering I can make my dream come true. Thanks for the chance. Sincerely,

Would be nice to try one of these.
I've had a '68 'Paul since '72. Originally a gold-top, but the finish was somewhat damaged when I got it, so I had it refinished, to a similar finish to the Ultra II shown here.
While being one of the heaviest (if not the heaviest) guitars I've played, it's got a feel like none other.
My other Gibson is a '66 Melody maker......much lighter, still nice feel.
Yes, I have to F'ders too...strat\tele........, but the 'Paul is still my fav.
please toss my name in the hat...
thanks,

I have been wanting to add an electric to my current acoustic collection (Martin J-18, Yamaha FG-75 and S.Yairi 9100 - 1973)
The studio would be fantastic, and the ultra II beyond mt dreams.
Please consider me entered!!!!!

There are some exceptional guitarists from Canada, so why isn't the contest for Canadians too? Besides...Calgary isn't very far from the border, and I think I could make either one of those guitars scream loud enough to be heard in the U.S. Thanks...Al

Good Review and nice looking Epiphone Les Paul guitars. I play the Ovation
Electric/Acoustic but sure would like to get my hands on one of those beauties. I think the wider neck would work for me as I finger pick most of the time.

My dream guitar has always been a Les Paul, but they have always been outside of my price range. I just recently picked up a second hand Squire Strat as my only guitar and I am enjoying having it, but I still look at, and dream about, the day that I can get my own Les Paul, Epiphone or Gibson. I would also like to say how much I enjoyed the honest review and how much I enjoy the website. I have learned a lot in from here in the past couple of weeks. I'm glad I found this site!

i agree to the rules and would like to be a part of this contests
God said to Abraham, “Kill me a son”
Abe says, “Man, you must be puttin’ me on”
God say, “No.” Abe say, “What?”
God say, “You can do what you want Abe, but
The next time you see me comin’ you better run”
Well Abe says, “Where do you want this killin’ done?”
God says, “Out on Highway 61”

Wow! What a great response.
You don't have to actually say "I agree to the contest rules" in your post.
It is kind of implied :)
I really appreciate all the other feedback.
I wish I had time to do some audio recordings of this, or even a video, but there are 3 different "site improvement" projects going on right now, all of which I am involved in, so I just didn't have time.
I echo what some of you have said "I used to be an anti-Epiphone snob." I was very skeptical about these guitars and was surprised by how much I liked the Ultra II.
Some have mentioned this is an LP-biased review. I expect all the reviews are going to be biased positive. First, because we pre-selected the gear, so we know it is at least pretty good. Second, because it wouldn't be any fun to say "this piece of gear is useless, and now on to the contest to see who can win this useless piece of gear!"
I am really gratified to see all the response. This project is great fun. Good luck to everybody.
