I am 6 months into becoming an acoustical guitar guru! I have been learning on a gem of a guitar, made in Korea....it is a Hyundai. (I know, I know) You all of you are salivating over this guitar and would love to buy it from me.....however it is a priceless gem and I am not ready to give it up........RIGHT  !!!
All the same, I am ready to upgrade to play with the pros and win one of these guitars!
Glad to be here with all of you!

I have a friend who has an Ultra II and I have to tell you, it is everything they claim it to be and more. The acoustic sound rivals any slim body acoustic out there and the playability really surprised me. The one he has has such low and fast action I was actually considering purchasing one even though I'm more of a "strat guy" Alas my budget has no room for a new guitar (kids start college this fall) but it sure is nice to go to my buds house and harass him to swap guitars for our "old guys in the garage" jam sessions. :D

It is a sad reality that the more you pay for a guitar, the more you get. So, we of limited disposable income have to do the evaluation and the math to get a good (though far less than the best) guitar and a good fit for our money. I think Epiphones are consistently better than other low cost options, especially if tone (and sustain) are what you are really after. Some guitars can be too pretty. Playability and tone. That's the ticket. Epi will not disappoint.

Sir Jon,
Thanks for your review of the Ultra II. I had watched on Epiphone a review of the guitar http://epiphone.com/news.asp?NewsID=1138 that was neat to watch, reviewed from a guy from guitar world (Maybe the video will help you learn more about the guitar so that you will be able enjoy it some more for the rest of the week!). The guitar seemed really neat and capable of some really cool stuff. So when this contest started I was so exited to see If you would be able to review it. And when you had chosen the Ultra-II to review I about jumped through the ceiling. I have been excitedly awaiting a review of the guitar. I wanted to see what you thought of the guitar and was very pleased with your review. So Hopefully soon I will be able to buy the guitar or maybe even get lucky and win it. But either way thanks for the review I learned some more things about the guitar that I wanted to know. I am glad that you are having a lot of fun playing it :) . I am jealous. Again Thanks again for the review. I agree to all of the rules to win either of the guitars

Oh yes...I would love to win one of these guitars!!

I really want to thank Lisa McCormick for her excellent lessons!! I would love more lessons from her. She got me started on the alternate base picking and now that my group class is starting to learn some Chet........I seem to be catching on pretty fast. I attribute it to my practice with Lisa...over and over again.....I feel like I'm cheating in my class!

Oh.....by the way...I would love to win one of these guitars!

I recently bought an Ultra II and I love it. It looks great, feels good and plays very well. I`d like to get the thing properly set up with a footswitch to switch the acoustic in and out without having to fiddle with the volume knob, but iIcan`t find one. Can anyone help?

I own real Les Pauls but I have played the ULTRA II quite a bit. For the price you get a truly amazing guitar. The Nano mag really does not sound at all like an acoustic guitar, but that being said you have a great many sounds at your fingertips with this pickup combination. The fit and finish on these guitars is excellent, and when my friend"s guitar arrived it played fine out of the box. But, after giving the guitar a thorough polish and fretboard cleaning, changing the strings and playing with intonation and action just a bit the guitar came alive. Well worth the money.
One thing to consider if you buy this guitar is that even at the $699 price point there is still a considerable mark up on these guitars. If you local music store will haggle, I would give it a try. (My friend paid far less than $699 but he is a gear junkie who buys tons of equipment so the store he works with gives him great deals)
Please enter me in the contest and I agree to the rules.

The idea of having a pickup to switch to that would make the guitar sound acoustic, is a really creative idea....vs having an acoustic try to sound electric. If this works, it would be a nice addition on-stage. I'd love to play that Ultra II.

I'm learning guitar (started in Feb), but have always lusted for LPs. I never paid much attention to which gear creates which sounds, but have heard nothing but raves about Les Pauls whenever anyone has talked guitars.

So a few weeks back, i got my hands on what turned out to be a slightly trashed Epiphone LP100. To my inexperienced hands, it felt smooth and easy to play. I began to understand what the fuss is about. And now, having learned a lesson about buying used guitars from internet ad boards, I'm lusting for a good solid Epiphone Les Paul.

These reviews only fuel that fire. Thanks much.

P.S. Rules agreed, accept all conditions. Full speed ahead.

Beautiful guitars. I used to have a gigantic Epiphone semihollow body that had great twang and power. These babies look like they would deliver the classic Epi/LP vibe! Super sharp.

Jon, First this is a killer site and I have learned much since joining a couple of years ago. Its nice to be able to talk to a human for tech support also..Thanks for your help in the past...
I hope this is ok, I would like to take the time to say Christopher, and Beniot, have went way beyound the norm when it comes to explaining and teaching me things I had/have questions about..Even though they have a "life" they somehow find the time to answer questions for me, and give detailed answers to help me understand this stick of wood with strings... :)
I have had to part with two really fine guitars, because of economics, sniff, sniff, but family first right?
Anyway, I hope whoever wins these two fine gee-tars appreciate them. Maybe it will be the beginning of a beautiful relationship, and increase there ability to become better guitar players... :D
Thanks davido

Sorry, but my limited funds do not stretch far enough to allow me to play either of these guitars. Therefore, it is nice to enter contests to try to win one. If lucky enough to win one, will have to seriously improve my skills.

Good luck to all that enter.

I joined Guitar Tricks just last week and can't stay off the site! I'm really enjoying it, but my wife's not too happy with me. Anyway, great site and nice touch with the guitar giveaways.

I Have Always Been A Fan Of Les Pauls Even Though My Favorite Guitar Is A Telecaster, But I Would Not Mind Owning One Of These.
