Description

Let's practice a similar idea with 2 A major shaped barre chords rooted on the 5th string.

Play D Major chord rooted at the 5th fret. (Show alt fingering) - Then move 2 frets (whole step) down to a C Major chord rooted at the 3rd fret.

Again. Remember to squeeze your fingers and thumb together, maintaining as much pressure as possible trying to get each fretted string to ring out clearly. Don’t overdo it. Once your hand starts to hurt, release the tension - keeping your fingers on the strings while you slowly slide to the next shape.

Even fretting the chord for just a second at first is enough to start building strength and muscle memory.
