Description

This time we will use an open E minor chord as the basis for our barre chord. Doing this results in another moveable shape that we can play up and down the neck.

Let’s jump right to the 5th fret for this shape where A is the root. One way to approach learning this shape is to start with the Major shape we just learned. If you are comfortable with this shape, all you need to do is remove your middle finger from fretting the G string, and put more pressure with your Index barre on that 5th fret of G. You’ve just made it Minor. Because A is our root we have made an A minor chord.
