Description

Let's practice moving these barre chords around to get us ready to play along with a backing track.
We’ll move between two chords rooted on the Low E string that resemble that E Major Barre Shape.

Let’s start with the A major chord rooted at the 5th fret. Next we’ll move two frets down (Whole step) to a G chord rooted on the 3rd fret. We’ll just use these two chords for now.

As you move from one chord to the next, slightly release pressure and slide the entire shape. It's important to maintain that overall shape with your fingers and hand. It also helps to lightly maintain contact with the strings to help guide your hand and make it a smooth efficient motion. You don’t want your fingers to fly away off the fretboard.

Practice switching back and forth between these two chords, only holding the pressure for as long as is comfortable. The slower you practice this the more precise you will be in the long run.
