Description

Now we're going to use an Open A major chord as the basis for our barre chord. This chord is rooted on the A string, so as we climb up the natural notes of the musical alphabet we get B, C, D, E etc.

Let’s first take a look at our open position A chord and fret it with our Pinky, Ring, Middle. This frees up our Index to Barre. Now I want you to visualize your Index fretting the open A string and open High E string. Once you have that let’s slide it up to 5th position. Here we have a D note rooted on the 5th fret of the A string.
