Finger and Picking Technique Exercise 1
In this exercise we will begin to get your chops up in order to learn how to pick. This exercise involves three notes per string and alternate picking. Notice that the odd number of notes per string means that you will use a different pick stroke when you change strings. For example, if you start the 5th string with a downstroke you will start the 4th string with an upstroke. Your pick will become more independent using this exercise. This exercise also works great as a lick to use in fills and solos.
Later, we'll use other techniques with this exact fingering so learn it now. As always, start slowly and work past your breaking point.
