Description

The ability to take a simple idea and maximize it's potential melodically is something John Mayer is known to do. Like other examples, his ability to expand on a simple two chord progression has always been one of his creative strengths. Alternating between the chords D major and A minor, this example uses a variety of intervals and interesting chord voiceings. This showcases John's great sense of melody along with strong rhythm guitar playing for use in his song-writing.

A similar technique can be heard in the song:
83 (Room for Squares)
