Another way John Mayer integrates Drop C tuning into his playing is by taking a more rhythmic, slap/pop approach to the instrument. Taking advantage of the low C string on the acoustic allows for the instrument to come alive in a new way. This example demonstrates a series of chords and melodies played in a very percussive style in the key of C minor. Both hands are used as percussive instruments along with an interesting set of chord changes that creates a very driving progression. Integrating the Drop C tuning from this example along with the percussive techniques from "Slap/Pop" style into your own playing will always lead to new and interesting results.
