Description
The use of open strings against chords has always allowed for a fuller sound on the acoustic guitar. John Mayer demonstrates this well with his combination of good chord voicings mixed with strong song-writing. This example utilizes open strings against a set of chord changes with a 6/8 strumming pattern. By using the open strings against the chords in the key of E major, the progression breathes a new life that without would not sound as full and rich. This example works to demonstrate the unique qualities of the acoustic guitar in it's natural sustain and full resonating sound.
