August Sweetwater Gear Review Giveaway - Epiphone Les Paul x2
# 1
I always look forward to reviews of new equipment. I own several acoustic guitars and a few electrics. Yamaha, Fender (Squire,Telecaster), Alvarez. Since I have small hands, playability via action and neck width is very important to me. My playing buddy owns an Epiphone. When I first tried it, the feel was heavy and solid; however, the sound was incredible. Good sustain and a variety of tones available. Expansive range from mellow blues to rock crunch and beyond. If I had to choose from the two in the reviews, I believe the Ultra would probably be my poison.

There is something about the Les Paul style of guitar that is a world all of it's own. Love the Eval. A friend of mine just got the studio Epi. I think the ultra II would be more my Speed. Beautiful Instrument. Thanks Man, and thanks Sweetwater! You Rock!!!

Both guitars look great! I messed with an Ultra II at the shop, it definately has low action on the board.

Hi,
It's SUPER great great news that Epi introduced two great sounding guitars that are able to produce and immulate the more expensive Les Paul's. The Epiphone Les Paul Ultra II is sure to rock. Thanks again for your review! :)

Epiphones are awesome! I've played plenty of guitars that some will tell you are better names with better sound...but my Epiphone Casino is the one that stays after the Fenders, Washburns and Gibsons have come and gone.
Whoever wins the Ultra will be getting a sweet guitar.

The Epiphone Les Paul Ultra II sounds like an awesome guitar, especially for the price. The studio is definitely an awesome guitar too, I've had the chance to play one.

Thanks for the review! Both guitars sound like they are qualty guitars for the money. I'm sure the studio would be much more playable after the action is adjusted to the players taste. It seems that the less expensive Epies lack a proper set up from the manufacturer. I will be awaiting my new (free) guitar to arrive in the mail, and I have already picked out my picture for the news letter :-)
Thanks for the great site!

Great review, but you did not mention the guitars weight. As a Strat player, who loves to swap and play his friends guitars… I have found the weight of the Epiphone to become tiresome after a long session in the garage. But I am sure I could get used to the extra weight.

I never have played a Les Paul before. Always loved the way they sound though. Little luck maybe I can find out how they sound personally.
