An interesting concept was presented in some Arthur C. Clarke book (I forgot which one, Rama maybe, but it's not important) regarding a society that had advanced enough to cure every disease and/or ailment and extend any individual's life theoretically forever. Yet to do this for everyone wasn't practical. So one's status (and relative worth) in this society was based on a credit system. As long as you were putting forth enough credits through your work, expertise, or whatever, you could receive the health care and/or live the life of luxury. Otherwise, you were ordered to expire.

Also, I think Roger Waters needs to share some of his mane with the rest of the band. Maybe that would help ease some of the animosity, contribute to some band unity?

Ralph Machio in "Crossroads"....

No, seriously, I've gotta go with Michael Angelo. Not much on his music, but he's the fastest in my opinion.

look around for a video of jason becker doing paganinis 5th caprice... insane!!! Yngwie is fast... Rusty Cooley is faster... Michealangelo is fast as well... its hard to judge whos fastest though... because you're never going to get guitarists to "race" or play side by side and see who can play notes faster. just from what i've seen i would have to go with Rusty Cooley

The fastest guitarist i can think of is definitely Steve Vai. It seems that he plays about 20 notes per second. Michael Romeo (Symphony X) is also very fast!

Hi everyone.
I bet you all thought this thread was dead and gone, but I have just found this video which might open things up again (sorry!).
It is some South american guy (I think) playing the fastest I have ever seen, supposedly 39bps - I know that is not as fast as the claimed 45bps from that Marcus Paus chap, but this is the fastest I have seen on video.

I'M NOT WORTHY! I'M NOT WORTHY!
For that matter, John Petrucci isn't f***ing worthy either! That was unbelievable!

Speed is fun, but personally, I'd rather listen to a single note played by Dave Gilmour than fifty minutes of music played by Yngwie Malmsteen.

Agreed. Zakk Wylde needs to grow up, slow down, and learn a lesson in humility.
