Guitar Glossary: Fretboard

Fretboard

The flat, wooden front of the neck which contains the frets. Normally, fretboards will arch upwards slightly in the centre, so they are closer to the two central strings. The spaces between the fret markers are usally the same, but they can be "scalloped," which creates a concave dip between the two markers.
