Double sharp

Two sharp (#) symbols (or a single symbol resembling an X) placed before a note to raise it by a whole step. Like double flats, you won't come across them often, and they largely exist so that two notes with the same name aren't repeated in a scale. For example, a scale would include D## and E#, rather than E and E#.
