Chromatic chord

A chord incorporating notes outside the prevailing key. Like chromatic notes, these chords aren't usually emphasized because of the uneasy sound they produce. However, doing so can create tension when it is required in a song. Only a minor alteration is needed to change an ordinary chord into a chromatic chord.
