Guitar Glossary: Scalloped fretboard

Scalloped fretboard

A fretboard where each fret is concave, like a section of a circle. This means that strings don't contact the fret when held down, causing the notes to 'sing out' more. However, because the notes are essentially being bent when they are fretted. It can be pretty difficult to play chords on a scalloped fretboard.
