I keep hearing about George Bellas, I have heard a clip and his playing is totally clean and horrifyingly scarily fast. Does anyone here know much of his work? Do you guys have any particular recommendations?
If I couldn't laugh at myself how could I laugh at someone less ridiculous?

To improve technique and of course trying to keep all as clean as possible. I know my own limits and speed limits and so on I never play anything I'm not capable of. That wouldn't make any sense. After three years of playing I tried to play everything as fast as possible and that sounded, I would say, like shit, and I didn't realize that if I'd play bit slower things than I was capable of playing then everything would sound much better.

Forget YM and MA, you wanna hear fast that sounds like it was played by a man listen to Dimebag Darrel from Pantera. Dont beleive me?, listen to Vulger display of power and all the songs on it. This guy doesnt need sweep or tap to ba fast, he does it for real, no tricks, just speed.

Dimebag is great , but he isn't the fastest or the greatest technicaly , and he can't be compared to MA or YM.

I have all of pantera's records (I'm a big fan of them) , and I can pretty judge him well.

Recent issue ?
Nitro disbanded a decade ago I think , and Michael Angelo plays solo now ... He's the fastest guitarist I've heard up-to-date.

That's Michael Angelo's fav speed dude , the 32nd @ 150bpm , 16th @ 300 bpm ... I've heard him doing it a lot , for extended periods and with his unmistakable accuracy ... You can hear his picking and each note very clearly.

So how do you claim the other guys are faster ?

BTW , Fareri sounds very similar to Paus , may be some better.

"Full Force" from "Lucid Intervals and Moments of Clarity" album ... Nice one , and from min 1:40 to 1:54 it goes 16th @ 300 bpm , fully accurate and in total controle of course. ;)

Also check out "Planet Gemini" song and album , cool music and blinding speed.

Not sure where you can find these , may be you'll find a couple of mp3s on kazaa.

LoL guys you are naming off people like Malmsteen, Petrucci, Angelo... and I'm sorry but none of these people compare to straight-foward classical/flamingo guitarists, who don't need a pick to sweep. Not only does their using 5 fingers make them faster, but it allows them to play mutliple notes at a time. You'd never see Malmsteen playing a bass and 2 lead notes simultaneously. I like to say it's because he's a chicken ****, but the truth is, it's just not his style. Not saying he couldn't do it, even though I seriously doubt he could. He'd have to go back to classical 101 and learn how to fingerpick (and not everyone can fingerpick.. Eric Johnson mentioned in one of his videos that he was unable to take the classical aproach to his guitar, and was still working on it..if he says that, he's saying alot)

If any of you heard William Kanengiser, Elliot Fist, Eugino Martinez, and even a non classical player Monte Montgomery who I think would smoke Malmsteen or these guys on any day (and he plays everything acoustically), you'd be amazed. Classical may not be your style, but it is the upmost disciplined style of music in the world, and no neoclassical repetitive shredding guitar player can amount to the discipline, technique, and diversity of a straight-foward classical musician. Alot of people will probably disagree with me on this, but the chances are you are under the age of 15 and probably think Ted Nugent is great guitar player lol

P.S. I personally think Steve Vai would smoke any of these 80's shredders being mentioned here. He just isn't narrowminded like Angelo the rest of them, he adds some style to what he does :)

Seriously man, MA is the most overrated guitarists being mentioned here.... I downloaded a song by him entitled 'Yngwie can't touch this'
It was a joke, nothing but repetive shreds (and nowhere near the fastest I've heard). And yes fingerpickers can play just as fast as alternate pickers. I'm sure everyone here has seen crossroads, and they remember the duel at the end where Steve Vai loses to Macchio. Kanengiser did those amazing, lightning speed arpeggios with fingerpicking. Nothing I've heard MA do comes close to that, not to mention thats not his fastest piece. You may not be able to do the same with fingerpicking as you can with a pick, but don't say he can't :). Oh yeah if you look up Eugino Martinez's version of Flight of the Bumblebee, you'd forget about petrucci's version(he uses alternate picking as well).

Yngwie Malmsteen, because he can be as fast as he wants to, but has no disire. There is such thing as too fast. If you have seen his solo in japan you would agree.

Oh, in that movie Macchio aint doing nothing, but moving his fingers. Steve Via made up the whole track for the whole movie, but I think himself did fingerpicking though, but not sure.

There is no such song by MA called 'Yngwie can't touch this' ... If you wanna listen to this guy , check out "full force" & "planet gemini" , then come back and argue.

And yes fingerpickers can play just as fast as alternate pickers.

On elec ??! Can you prove that ?

I'm sure everyone here has seen crossroads, and they remember the duel at the end where Steve Vai loses to Macchio. Kanengiser did those amazing, lightning speed arpeggios with fingerpicking. Nothing I've heard MA do comes close to that, not to mention thats not his fastest piece.

Now , that wasn't lightning speed at all ... It was a hard piece when I first learned to play it , but then I managed to do it a lot faster.

If you haven't heard MA doing faster scales and arps , then definitely you've heard nothing for this man.
