Thank you Jolly. That bugs me to death when people say that. Look at our freakin gas prices! Its pretty apparent we're not stealing oil.

True, but that old power in numbers thing worries me. Hopefully I'm wrong and we will all live to ripe old ages!

gas prices are determined by the individual station and their prediction of the price of oil when they'll have to buy, not the actual price at the time.

[/paying 1.98/gallon here]

it is over oil...it's pretty obvious...but whatever. look into peak oil production sometime.

edit: actually, the reason why gas prices have dropped drastically lately is because of a lack of need for heating oil so far....not nearly as bad as past years so the price of oil has dropped some. global warming does something good for once.
okay...my post is done...goodbye.

I'd vote for jolly if he ran for president.

and I'm paying $2.22/gallon here... just filled up my car for under $20 yesterday... of course, I have a 94' honda civic which gets 35-40 mpg and only has a 12-gallon tank

plus, nature makes way more polution per year then us humans do. I think I was reading that humans make like 700,000 tons of pollution per year, while nature is making well over 100 million tons. and that one volcanic eruption makes at least 10 million tons.

I'm saying that from memory of something I read a couple years back, so don't hold me to those being exact numbers.

and we as humans sometimes live in conditions 20 below zero degrees, and other times at 110 degrees... so I'm sure that making the average temperature a couple degrees higher is really going to screw us over

and yet there's still much debate over the whole global warming thing....at least enough to cause concerns on a global level about emmissions from fossil fuels and such and to have that still be a top priority of much of the world.

science isn't sure either way about global warming.

it's also hard to make anything definate when the earth is in such a transitional period with so many changes that apparently have been happening for thousands of years? not easy to say nothing is wrong when we're up to tropical storm epsilom when i remember not too many years ago the highest season on record was up to opel.

also you have to take into account how many billions of dollars that support against global warming because acknowledging it would basically mean a deathblow to the oil industry and a stronger, more focused search for an alternative fuel source.

same reason why there's such vagaries about peak oil production....dont want to scare everyone into actually doing something about it.
okay...my post is done...goodbye.
