kill the ones that shoot, save the ones that don't. arm every national guard and fireman and everyone else. if some piece of siht shoots at them, they shoot back or someone else shoots back if they get hurt.

Ok, that picture someone posted; that's the gulf of mexico katrina is sitting in, right? Mutha*%#$^&!!
The biggest tragedy caused by mother nature that I think I've witnessed in Kenya was a family of seven getting killed by a mudslide, so I can't even begin to say that I appreciate what it's like in N'awlins, coz I don't. I feel sorry for the afflicted though. And when el nino hit us a few years back, the problem was just prolonged rains. Just that. Normal quanities of rain, but raining way past overdue.
A few random thoughts:

What the **** were the founders of the city thinking building a city below sea level that close to the sea?
You mean to tell me there's nothing scientists can do to interfere with a storm? Like a bomb or something? Or that's just asteroid-on-cillision-course-with-planet-earth-laser-gun-blast-out-of-orbit science fiction?

That's what my reaction was. As I mentioned earlier, that photo was the first I had even heard of this hurricane.

There's nothing anyone can do about storms like this. There's nothing we can do about anything big coming from space, either. If a big rock comes flying at us we won't see it in time to do anything and even if we did there's nothing we could do about it.

1. there is no god. at least not in the judeo-christian sense.
2. i dunno...the french quarter faired pretty well. everything sank as the years went on...the french quarter is probably the only safe area and is more than likely the eldest area because of that whole reason of being built in the right area....i mean it's lasted since the french settled there, right? well...the spanish.
3. nothing. it's pressure systems, yo. you can't just blow up clouds. and you can't blow up asteroids right now either as the person above me pointed out.

have a good life.
okay...my post is done...goodbye.

perhaps if we devoloped some way to super cool the water under a hurricane (as they need warm water to exist) but messing with temperatures of stuff just throws the whole world's weather out of whack.

I really felt compassion for the typhoon victims, I sold my Gibson Les Paul and Fender Fat Strat in order for me to donate some relief for those people. God Bless them.

are you serious? that takes heart... I respect you for that. but I would never sell my gibson! unless there was someone that I really knew well that got hurt/killed... (for example, you know those people who have their spouse die of cancer, so then they devote their lives to helping other people with cancer, that sort of thing)

Yeah, Im serious, but its an old Gibson Les Paul, with scratch and dent, Its the only guitar I can sell for $1000 bucks. It's just okey to give something important for your fellowmans good, its just my humanitarian instinct whispering on me. My guitar is important but my conscience and my principles tells me that giving for the preservation of life is more important.

Dude, you keep doing something like that everytime you see suffering, you're gonna become one hell of a broke dude presto.
Now, let's indulge the negative energy/bad karma side of me:
Why are people so quick to help victims of something in the news, whereas there's people needing help around them ALL THE TIME and no one does ****? Example, a few months, a new born baby was thrown away, and it was found by a dog, that saved it, carried it thro' quite a few hazards (barbed wire, forest, a very busy highway in Nairobi) amongst others and the baby was safe. it was on TV, and in the papers the next day. it was named Angel. Boy, was there a floodgate of offers for food, clothes, apy for medical, even adoption. All the nurses at the hospital, women's groups activists, I think the Minister fro Health (who happens to be a lady), were all over it, cuddling it and all that ****. Now, do you have any idea how many homeless, hopeless children there are in Kenya? How come no one is asking to adopt those? If you ask me, it's just getting carried away coz it's on the news.

Right about now, do you have any idea how many people around the world have been rendered homeless fro one reason or another? Natural calamities, war, a whole lotta bad ****. But no one is bothered with those. But when some event happens and it's on the news, the floodgates of assistance open.

But hey, those who help people are better. Coz when you help, the one in a million person who receives your assistance appreciates. You've made a difference, no matter how small, it's a difference nonetheless. Better that than those like me who don't help anyone and instead hate on those who do something.

See, I have good karma as well.

Err hurricane? Yea, nature is most beautiful. Especially when it tries to extirpate our species.

As some of you may know I am in New Orleans right now. My brother's friend is very active in a levee organization of some sort, so he took me on a "desolation tour." This brought me through lake view, the lower 9th ward, and Biloxi, Mississippi.
The lower 9th ward is where the levee broke (after Katrina hit). The most the federal goverment has done is moved the houses of the streets. All of the debris is still there. The traffic lights don't work. This is a residential area, well was.
On our journey to Biloxi we got to see all the dead swamps from Katrina blowing swamp water. Swamps work as natural levees, dead swamps=not a very good thing. This isn't just an environmental issue, its a safety issue.
We reached Biloxi. For those of you who don't know it's a coastal gambling tourist trap. Most of the debris has been cleaned up by the federal goverment.
So here's my question: Why is a coastal tourist trap cleaned up before a residential area that was destroyed because a federal goverment constructed levee broke? It's not a matter of rebuilding even, it's a matter of picking all the crap up.

Well, that's the obvious answer. It just really bothered me that, that is the answer.
