'Hell' is actually a mistranslation from four other words...hades,gehenna,tartarus and sheol.people in scotland put their potatoes in 'hell'...
ok I completely and totally disagree, but let's assume for one moment that that one word may have been not properly translated... how about this verse right here then?
Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels (Matthew 25:41)I do believe that that above verse did not use that one 'misinterpreted' word, but yet got the point across, there is a place of everlasting fire, where God does send some people, where the devil and his angels are.... hmm... it may not be called 'hell' but hell is only a name for the place... ok... not convinced? here is another couple of verses for ya
And these shall go away into everlasting punishment,; but the righteous into life eternal. (Matthew 25:46)And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power. (2 Thessalonians 1:7-9)okay? I hope that help you to change your mind, cause it took me forever to find all that... sheesh! if you have any other 'disputes' with the Bible that you don't agree with, let me know, and I'll talk to some people who know alot more of the bible then I do, and I'll get back to you. I just don't want you to be mislead by something you found on the interenet. a lot of the stuff he is talking about is either out of context, or is taken from the old testament and everything was different in the old testament... basically it goes like this, if you sin, something has to be done to pay for that sin, in the old testament they sacrificied lambs and other animals... it's funny because Jesus was born in bethlehem, a town where they bread the lambs for sacrifice, he was born in a stable, like one of those sacrificial lambs would, and I'm sure you've heard Jesus referred to as "the lamb of God" so basically, Jesus was sacrificied much in the same way a lamb was, to take the penalty of sin, except Jesus was able to take the sin of every person in the world, who was, who is, and who is to come, and every sin in the world was paid for. so now all we have to do is believe that Jesus did die on the cross for everyone's sin, and confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord, then we will be saved... the key word there is "saved" to be saved, usually means you are being saved from something, in this case it is eternal damnation... I could try to look up some more verses to support these claims... oh boy, it's going to be a long night, but it'll be worth it if I'm able to change your mind... ok I found one...
If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved (Romans 10:9)oh and by the way, that website was saying that the Bible never said anything about your soul going to heaven or hell when you die... now, I don't know of any Bible verses to support this, I'll look it up in a minute, but what I was taught at church by someone who has read the bible many many times over, in many many translations, was that when you die, God will judge us, and he will determine who goes into heaven, and who goes into hell, sin is absolutely not permitted into heaven. but check out this verse:
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)so how does anyone go into heaven? well, they have to have their sin forgiven.
And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. (James 5:15)Him (Jesus) hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and Saviour, for to give repentence to Isreal, and forgiveness of sins (Acts 5:31)ok... whew, I'm exhausted... umm I think I made my point, I hope I didn't come across as one of those 'angry christians' I was actually doing this out of love, I wasn't upset. I don't know you all that well, so I don't know if you are the kind of person that can accept being wrong, or if you are going to keep pushing me on this... but like I said, feel free to challenge me anytime... I would be glad to point out some scripture verses to point you down the right path, and if I can't find any, I'll find someone who knows the bible a lot better than me... I don't want to start a religion war here. just trying to help you out. I want to meet you in heaven when I get there, maybe we can jam some time, I hear they have great guitars in heaven! lol. actually it says something in the bible about there being singing and worship when you get to heaven, so it actually isn't all that far-fetched to think that they aren't guitars in heaven, and if there aren't then I'm sure there will be some kind of new instrument that we don't have hear on earth. lol. ok.. it's now 3:30 in the morning, I think I started typing this around 1:30... so I spent 2 hours on it for you dude... lol. yeah.. ok, I'm going to go get some sleep!
