Description
In this lesson we'll learn the simple 6/8 strum for the song. I'm going down, down, up, down with my strumming strokes, counted:
1 2 AND 3, 4 5 AND 6
For those times when we have a 9/8 bar, we just add one more set of strums: 7 8 AND 9
Now, don't let the 9/8 bother you; there's never a feeling of an "odd meter" in the song. We always have a consistent lilting rhythm going on.
Pay attention to the "zoning" of your strums. For the E shape chord, I have a 6 string zone, for the C shape chord I have a 5 string zone, and the D shape chord is a 4 string zone.
