Is it just me, or does this guitar thing get way too addictive?! ;)

I now have two guitars, one acoustic one electric acoustic. Now I've got my eye on another electric acoustic AND a 12 string!!

Perhaps I'm just more bonkers than I thought I was....... ;)

Am I alone? Or is there anyone else willing to admit to guitar infatuation! :) :)

It's called GAS (Guitar Acquisition Syndrome), and is an all too common ailment among guitar players. :)
...so ever since then, I always hang on to the buckle.

I personally dont have that addiction. For 9-10 years of playing, I only own 4 guitars, and two of them I didnt even pay for. I have friends that have been playing as long as I and they own 7-8 guitars...

It doesnt help Im really picky about the "feel" of a guitar. Ill know within seconds if I dont like a guitar because of the "feel" of it.

I have the disease but my tastes are kinda expensive which is an inhibitor to frequent purchases. So, I got my working two gitfiddles and my (dormant) project as a third.

The fiance wants to learn but only on acoustic so I may be picking up a Taylor Baby soon enough.

Still, the bug hits me and I long for getting a true Gibson Les Paul again, then I'd like a PRS McCarty, then maybe a Tele would be neat (always fancied one of those). Since she's getting an acoustic, maybe a nice mid-line Martin would be neat.

...I think you see how this is going...

Hello from Scotland Randwool, sorry to tell you that it is highly addictive, I am 57 years old, still learning, getting more problems with "GAS" as I get older, now have a Jim Deacon acoustic, Yamaha semi acoustic, Gibson epiphone, ozark dobro, fender strat, and a martin &co parlour guitar, but still can't pass a guitar shop without drooling, I don't think there is a cure for "GAS" probably you need patience and understanding from your loved ones, best of luck Ronnie

Well can’t get much more addicted then me at the moment I think.

Bought an epiphone acoustic to start with.
Then Bought a Fender Squier
Then Bought a Mexican Fender
I then thought I needed another acoustic so bought an Ashton.
Then I ran into a beautiful amber American strat.
Ibanez made stuff I didn’t had either and wanted to own something else then a strat.
After that the Fender Squier seemed to be obsolete so I brought it to a guitar shop. I told a friend (who is the owner) make this guitar look pretty. Well, let’s just say he overdid it a bit.
And last week I gave my Ashton to a charity and bought a new Yamaha acoustic for fingerpicking exercises.

I now also have a Gibson Les Paul special something something in the house, same guitar shop told me to try it out for I might like it (and I want to have it now, but It’s choosing between food and guitars at the moment, leaning to guitars to be honest).

And am building a complete custom model now to which should be ready in December.

So yes……I can say proudly…..I am addicted to buying guitars, but I have stopped smoking.

I'm addicted. Been playing for 18 months. Started with a cherry Epiphone Dot, beautiful guitar. Then got a used Martin DM acoustic. And since I travel a lot overseas on long trips and flights, I bought a traveler guitar. Check them out at www.travelerguitar.com. Awesome machines.

But it turned out that I didn't really like the Dot despite its beauty, and I had been lusting after a Strat. So about six months ago I treated myself to a beautiful American Deluxe in cherry sunburst. It's almost too pretty to play, but it plays like a dream. I teamed that up with a Fender Blues Jr in tweed and I just cant' believe how good that combo sounds.

Finally, with my son home from college this summer I got to playing his Epi Les Paul tuned in open G for some fun Stones action. Those humbuckers really make a difference and it's nice to have a guitar that I can keep in the different tuning. So I kept his Les Paul and let him get an ESP that he was lusting over.

Am I done yet? Well I am certainly taking a break for a while and enjoying what I have, but I'm definitely hooked!

Yup, I've got it, too. I only own 4 (3 acoustics, 1 electric), but I keep "buying up"... I'll sell one, buy one, sell one, buy one. Only problem is, as my tastes change, the guitars keep getting more and more expensive. Things of beauty, they are....

Hurrah for GAS!!!!! Thankfully, we are building a large two storey extension to our home, so my dream of a guitar room may just become a reality..... ;)

Nice to know there are plenty of you infected with this incurable affliction....long may it continue! :) :) :) :)

I can't help staring in to the window of a music shop, I'll probably end up having a couple of guitars being used as decorations in my lounge, they are the most beautiful pieces of art, they promise so much but it depends on us to let them loose to stretch their wings...

the Ibanez RG370dx is in good condition, I just finished spoiling her with a nice oil-rubbing for the fretboard, set up the bridge, got some new springs in for the heavier .11 gauge, sounds great again
only thing is that you see some small scratches from usage and some stains on the bridge, I also just changed the screws for new ones (which unfortunately are silver instead of black)

I've got the case with it as well, thinking of selling both for €325 (original with case would at least be €450), guitar goes for €250 (original €350)
