Aaaah... the thought of a music room, walls smothered with guitars, sprinkled with multi colored picks

I now have two guitars, one acoustic one electric acoustic. Now I've got my eye on another electric acoustic AND a 12 string!!

Perhaps I'm just more bonkers than I thought I was....... ;)

Am I alone? Or is there anyone else willing to admit to guitar infatuation! :) :)

The more moola you have, the more guitars you must have!!

I got GAS bad over the years, bought loads and traded a few. Now I just keep the best ones for me:

Ibanez Jem BRMR700 'Bad Horsie'
Ibanez Prestige custom (EMG's)
Ibanez Universe custom with Evolutions
EBMM Petrucci 7 string
Dean MAB-1 'Armored Flame'

Couple of grands worth of guitars there - if my wife ever truly knew their value I would be forced to sell the lot:)

(I got pics of all of these babies in my studio - click the link below to see em if you are interested)

just a little side note, in your Bio it says: I'm 'self-thought', which I believe should be 'self-taught ;) yeah I know I can't help being a critical whiny **** sometimes haha

Aaaargh, missed that typo! I could always say that self-thought means that I like to think a lot about myself though :p
Re the screen - it's a 19" monitor which is pretty big, I built the studio desk myself which is really big (I'm 6ft 5" myself so an oversized desk was something I always wanted). I'd love a twin pair of widescreen monitors but they are way expensive.

I think the word would be introspective, then. :) You know the thing I noticed? The chair has arms. I took 'em off mine so I didn't bang the guitars against them. Nice studio, though. And some sweet guitars.
...so ever since then, I always hang on to the buckle.

You know, I've been playing for all of about 6 weeks now. And, I started with a nice steel string acoustic. But, quickly realized that I really like playing classical. So, I got a classical on Craigslist at about week 4.

Well, today I was working out at my karate studio, and there is a gentleman there that rebuilds and upgrades guitars for a "hobby". He informed me that he "has something like 30 guitars, doesn't play, and is selling them all off." And suggested I come over and browse...

So, uh...guess who bought a nice Gibson Electric tonight... lol

Well, it's only a Maestro. But, he says he's replaced ALL of the components in it with American made, higher end components. Right down to the tuners. And "the only original thing is the body". I asked him to give me a list of all that's in it when I, um, go to pay him for it today (what a great guy...he let me take it with me last night). All I can tell you is that he asked $300 for it and he said he put more than that into it in parts. And I believe him. I played it...and then he kept putting the "$2000+ guitars" in my hands.."try THIS one", and I kept going...."yeah, nice....um, let me play that Gibson again...". It just has such a GREAT sound to it, and I love the feel. He even plugged it into a huge Marshall 350 watt amp and it cooked.

And, look at it THIS way.....I STILL don't have a Fender. So, that's another guitar that I can buy someday! lol

ADDED:

FWIW, this is what he said is on/in there, and perhaps someone can comment. All I know is that is sounds great:

  • Epiphone Pickups

  • Ernie Ball Pots

  • Gibson Switchs

  • Ernie Ball Jack

  • Gibson Deluxe Tuners

  • Higher end bridge, but I can't remember what he said it was...

When I was on the road, we usually made a weekly trip to a music store. It was one of these in Sierra Vista Arizona, where I first caught this costly disease. I bought my vintage tele that day, and six more since then. Forrest Lee Jr. is building a custom double bender for me, and I still want 2 more acoustic electrics. I recently found a cure for GAS though, it's called BILLS and it really works, lol.

Cool buy... just remember not to juggle around too much with the wide neck and narrow neck, in fact choose one. Playing an electric and classic ruined my learning curve because I kept on changing the muscle memory of my left hand -many years ago:)

Hmm...well, I've thought of that. But....whats do you do if you really enjoy playing BOTH?

Damn...I was AFRAID that that was the answer :) Seriously, shouldn't a "great" guitarist be able to pick up ANY guitar and just play? I mean, I can't imagine Christoper or Lisa from here picking up a guitar, screwing up, and saying, "well, I'm not used to a wider neck". So, that is the philosophy that I"m working under.....versatility :)

Okay, now....if you're having to build an addition to your HOUSE to hold your guitars....something's wrong... :)

Nice to know I am not on my own. Currently 2 acoustics, one electro-acoustic. An electric on the way and been looking at a twelve string in the local store. Have an acoustic amp and microphone and of course will have to get electric amp. Should i call a halt? Divorce pending, only joking. Sometimes I go into pawn shops and see poor forlorn worn out guitars and I feel so sorry for them. One day i know there is going to be a real bargain and bingo I will crumble and buy.Yes in answer to the question it can be very addictive.
