Awesome jam track! Is there a specfic key we should be aware of? Kinda sounds like an Em.

Oh yeah, just to help people out, here is the chord progression

Riff 1:

|C#min |B |A |B |

Riff 2:

|A |D#min7b5 |A |B |

All in the key of Emajor (or C#minor)

Edit: oh yeah, sheepy, good job. this progression is very Bon Jovi like, and some of your riffs really show show that, with a few Sambora licks in there. I'm gonna go for a more Steve Vai: For the Love of God style on this one I think.

That's more like it there Sheepy! A much more restrained mellow at times, yet still wailing. I'd guess the ending does drag on if that's what yer talking about. It's already a 3 min track without the further concluding licks. Nevertheless...sweet stuff!

Good job, Sheepy. :) Sounded a bit like Satch meets David Gilmour - the melody was tasteful, but you also displayed your techincal abilities very well. The tapping section towards the middle was awesome, but it was the sustained major scale melody at the beginning that did it for me. Well done!

6strngs - that rocked! Awesome tone, and I thought the way you contrasted the upper-register passages with the lower-register riffing (which was really well done, by the way) was excellent. Keep up the good work.

Very well done, both of you... can't wait to hear the rest!

Now, I hate to nitpick, but since he doesn't play any E chords, I think we can safely call it C#minor.

I guess when I look at music charts, I see the sharps or flats and I determine the parent major key from those sharps/flats. Also, saying that this piece is in Emajor sort of solidifies the main scale to use for this piece, which would be C# Aeolian, rather than dorian or another minor scale such as the harmonic minor.

Here's my take on May's jam track. Thanks to HP for the great track and to Magic Ninja for the work he puts in on these projects.

This IS NOT an entry. Just wanted to noodle around with the jam track.

Very cool...I was thinking clean would sound good myself, and there you have it! It was Dire Straits meets Planet Caravan, at least to me.

Edit: Ominous # of posts I just noticed. Scary...if yer into that stuff, I'm not though. :p

I heard a little bit of the Eagles in Dr F.'s take. I really enjoyed it.

I was thinkin clean for a while, tried it out, said "that's cool" then moved onto a tube screamer type overdrive, and said "hmm, cool but not right" then moved up to the high gain setting and ended up saying "mmm... tasty" but my original idea was clean too.

drf, you pulled off the clean channel nicely though, I gotta hand it to you!
