Cheers mate. Alucard, glad you could post an entry, Very shredtastic I should say.... too bad it's a bit quiet though! Is there a way for you to up the whole track's volume?
Oh yeah, thanks for compiling the entries equator! I would have done it myself, if my laziness problem didn't prevent me.

Thanks man!
Well, there is. I can just adjust the master volume recording on my saved project but unfortunatly, the more loud I make it, the less the quality seems to be. Do you have any recomendations for good audio recorders?

pssssh, really weak stuff. Mic and a program called Audacity. I really need something that will get 100% of the guitar signal and not just an regular flat recording. If you know what I mean.

This is a recording setup that I spent no money on. I did spend money on the amp and guitar of course, but I'm sure you have them already anyway. Plugging your amp directly into the soundcard doesn't give you the most realistic vintage sound, but it's been good enough for me. Cool edit pro 2.0 is a multitrack recording program and was aquired by downloading it from a legal* site. It's pretty outdated now anyway, it's practically abandonware, considering that Adobe bought it out and it's called Adobe Audition now.
*probably not legal
Try to get your hands on something like Cool Edit Pro. Just plugging your amp straight into the soundcard works fine (use the headphone jack on the amp, and plug it into the line in on the the card)

I go direct into the soundcard and then use audacity. still sounds pretty bad, but I have more control over my volume this way
also, you know you can import the mp3 file of the backing track into audacity, and then record more tracks over top, right? it sounds like you set your mik up to your computer speakers in order for us to hear the backing track.

As for the program I use Kristal Audio Engine from www.kreatives.org
It does the trick for me
ahh your right, didnt think of that. But the only thing I dont like is that when you plug in a Line-Out, you can hear anything from the amp speaker. Or is that only with head phones.
Yea 6strings, I think thats what I should do, just import the BT to audacity. Maybe I should re-record and send it again.

Hey, thanks alot you guys! CW, I took your advice and downloaded Kristal Audio Engine. Man, its way better than audacity, and much better quality too. If you go back to the link, I updated my track with the new sound recorder and some cleaner licks.

Sounds way better man. My advice for your solo though is to do a bit of planning so you know what notes to hit for each chord. That way your solo will sound more in line with the progression.
The way I do it is to play real slow over the chords, and come up with a few little easy to remember melodies that fit with them, then start elaborating on those melodies and playing a bit faster, and so on.

yea, thats one of the main things I've been trying to practice. So far, I only solo over the entire Key, not the chords. And I now know that changing after each chord will sound much better and flow more with the music.

Hey man I just listened to yours, here's my review (for what it's worth):
+ Nice Licks throughout
+ Good Tone
- Lead guitar was a little quiet, and needed to be a bit more in the forefront. That can be fixed easily.
- Solo needed a bit more direction and dynamics, like maybe starting off low, and then reaching the high notes later on in the solo, to make it more interesting to the listener, rather than just going up and down all through.
All that said, you have the skills and the technique, I reckon you could do do yourself justice with a second take. Just plan the direction of the solo out a bit before you play, and remember you don't have to do the whole 3 minutes.

I don't don't know if I have it in me to do that bit at the end again. Maybe in a week if I get my head to clear.

So save that part(s) of the take, and do a punch-in/out record...as long as you can get your tone, level, and set-up the same, it can be seamless.

Yeah, those don't work for me either, even with pop-up blocker turned off.

Same story here. Sounds like we need to sign a "Link-To-Music-Page" Petition.
