They think everyone has to look american, speak American, live American, BE American. Can't we just be human?

Being multi-lingual is considered a very good rescource to have for alot of careers. Go ahead and stick to English only. Someday you'll be passed over for someone who can talk to more people.

Hmmm...I'm pretty laid back so not a whole lot gets on my nerves too bad, but let's see:
I can't stand the music on the radio 99 out of 100 times, thus I almost exclusively listen to talk radio now. That's pretty enjoyable, but I hate how they take a commercial/traffic check break every 10 minutes that lasts for another good 10 mins. And speaking of roadway music, I guess I can't stand people who feel they have to blast their music (or at least the bassline of it)to the next block from their cars. And when they pull up next to you at the light they make sure to look (no, make that stare) at you to see if you can hear it, and are impressed enough to think they're cool. I prolly sound like an old man with my lil peeve rant, but I don't care!

*shaking fist in the air* Damn Kids!!

Sir, I am going to express that I do not particularly care for the views in which you have expressed in the last few posts. I have not found them open-minded nor have they been considerate of others' views and beliefs in which they were raised into (aka something they can't necessarily help). The expectation that one must cater to another's views when entering a new country (especially one that throws around the word "free" like America: Land of the Free does) isn't overly realistic. Spanish is everywhere and it's not going to leave. That's just the way it is. Sure it'd be convenient if everyone just learned English and was done with it, but that's not right. Spanish has become a very common language in America and to just expect people to cater to the English ways without asking questions is preventing us valuable opportunities to grow as a race. And regarding the statement "You cant just let everybody in. (sic)" think about all the things that have happened in America by American citizens. Americans haven't always been the most pleasing of people to deal with. Is having a second common language really a problem? America's not some golden slab of sacred ground. It's a body of land surrounded by water. There's no need to act like the ground's being tainted because there's an abundance of Spanish-speaking people here.

All im sayin' is that you have to make an effort to learn the language. just try , that's it! Hey, i can understand if some old man moves from mexico to the U.S. and doesn't know english, i'd cut him some slack. I understand it would be very hard to do that, and then try and learn a language, thats tough! I also thing heritage is something that nobody should take away! People should be proud of their heritage and pass it on their kids and so on. Personally, i think everyone should learn to , or try to speak 2 languages. You don't have to, but i think its a good idea to try. Most people in other countries learn 2 languages, english and their regional language, why cant we do the same? I learned to speak spanish so im not just ignorant to one language! this way it can help me in getting a job over someone else, or just be able to talk and communicate with a wider range of people!
I am Comfortably Numb... :D

Oh yeah...STICK IT TO THE MAN!

Open minded, closed minded, whatever. Im opinionated and thats the way it is. Think we already knew that. When in Rome, do as the Romans do. When in the United States, speak our freekin language. No problems making our money, but theres a big uproar when we ask if people could speak our language.

You cant just let everybody in. Why dont we be like France and let all the Muslims in? Wait, now they riot when they get pissed and they cant be controlled cuz theres too many of em. (Not to mention they hate us and have waged war on us.) That statement wasnt directed towards Spanish speaking people, it was directed towards the criticism of our foreign policy.

Don't you think you're a tad young to be opinionated? There's still much learning to do in life. Why come to you conclusions now? And that's lame accusing them of making our money. If that was true then our bank accounts would be draining into theirs. What they make is what they've earned because they worked for it. They didn't take my money or yours. What they took was up for grabs and that's the way it is. Just because they're biased towards their native language doesn't mean they don't deserve what they've gotten all the same.

You talk like none of that goes on in America by Americans. Our history isn't exactly clean and our country isn't made of gold. I've got no problems with regulating immigration, but don't act like they owe us for letting them in.

Biggest Pet Peeves for me are:

When a computer calls you and tells you to hold for the next available sales rep.

1.People that drive right next to eachother on the freeway at 50mph when the speed limit is 70. (I think Leedogg already has this but I hate them too.)

2.Tailgaters!

3.People at the drive through that ask you "Would you like an apple pie with that?" Did I order a freakin apple pie? C'mon

4.When you wanna smoke a fatty but ain't got no papers.

5.People that tell you they will do something but never do it. Oh I hate that!

6.When you're in the middle of a jam session and break an E string only to realize you just put your last set of strings on your axe.

7.When a cop pulls you over and asks you "Do you know why I stopped you?" Ummmm, 'cause you like my truck?

8.This one's for the hunters--When you put on five layers of clothes before the morning hunt and realize you have to pee at the last minute. :D
I am a constant evolving music machine. Oh Man, I just forgot what I was playing. Oh well, on to the next song.

Oh Im sorry man. Didnt realize there was an age limit on how old you had to be to hold an opinion. Silly me. :o I stand by my thoughts that immigrants should learn our language because I believe when in Rome. You dont come here for the convenience of living in this great country and do things your own way.

I never said Americans were perfect. What I am saying is that the people who come in here need to be monitored and some should not be let in at all for safety reasons.

They dont necessarily owe us for letting them in, but they should pay common courtesy and try their best to be able to function with the majority of society. (And I dont mean function intelectually wise, so dont twist that and make me sound like Im calling immigrants inferior.)
Dont shoot yourself in the head.

I think my biggest problem is not that immigrants take jobs. It's what they do with that money. Most immigrants don't have bank acounts and send alot of that money home to their families. If you think that them sending our american money to their countries to be spent there instead of here isn't hurting our economy, well you should rethink it a bit.

Man I hate that! That happens to me every deer season. I also hate it when I am sitting in my stand at the crack of dawn freezing my butt off, and my sister wakes up at ten, steps outside and shoot the biggest deer I have ever seen in our neck of the woods.

Not what I'm getting at my friend. I'm all for folks coming here and making the best of their lives. But alot of illegeals get paid under the table, never pay taxes on their money and send most of their cash home. This is true for russians, cubans, and many other nationalities including mexicans. Simply put it's bad for us, the guys who live by the rules and pay taxes. Not to metion it's bad for the economy.

That would get me too. I know a guy who shot the biggest deer within ten miles around in Leon county last year. He was sitting on his front porch drinking beer at the time.

Does it really? I'd have to say minamally. I'd say there's a ton of rich people spending more money on European vacations, trips to the Bahamas, skiing in the Alps, a weelend in Rio, ect., than what gets sent out by poor people trying to keep their families afloat. This is a horrible side effect of capitalism. Still you have money coming in too. Rich foreigners come here for vacation too. I don't know why. America has become a huge coast to coast mall in my eyes. Yet you have people like the leaders of Enron who are rich enough to begin with, steal more money and destroy the livelyhood of thousands of people. The hard working people you speak of no less. There are bigger causes for a dragging economy than immigrants sending a few hundred dollars a month to thier family. Plus you gotta ask yourself. If you were in thier position would you do the same? I know I would.
