O ya...And Dream Theater is the worlds greatest band.

Greenday is one of the bands that you hear all the time on all kinds of radio stations so it means that they are probably listend to more often then most punk bands. ANd dont get me wronge i love alot of other bands to aka bad religion, likin park, Led Zeplin, All AMerican Regects I was saying how i admire their bravery. and i get alot of inspiration from their music. It's very punk and that's what my band is orginally i am a drummer so i thought they were a good inspiration.

New to discussions, but I personally like Aerosmith. They have a lot of good songs, along with some that are not so good, but their sound has just continued on and on over the years. They have changed with the times, but kept a nice classic sound. Great chemistry!

They (Green Day) weren't really doing anything that required bravery... Not saying they're a bad band... and that you shouldn't listen to them. People are inspired by different things. If we were going to talk about political rock... I would have to say Bob Marley really broke the ground on that whole subject... and Rage Against the Machine was really a better "political band" than Green Day. I think that Green Day really falls more in line with pop/rock than Punk... seeing how punk ideology revolves around being different and not the "in" thing. There are a ton of Green Days out there now... and Musically they're nothing to be amazed at... in any regard... I respect the opinions and I can see where you would be coming from. But I think the term "punk" has been lost in translation and is now used to describe any band that uses numerous power chords with lyrics that include themes of broken homes, bad parent/child relationships, general politics, high school relationships, and so on... Green Day is no longer punk in my opinion... its pop/rock.

Im not sure dude, but as far as I know COB is actually a death metal band. Their CD's are on the same rack of bands such as Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse and Dying Fetus.

Im not really a fan of Death Metal but Ive listened as well out of curiosity, and only COB left an impact on me coz even though they play very hard and heavy music, still it sounds melodic. I myself doubt if they are really a death metal band coz their sense of melody is amazing. They are too good to be Death Metal.

You can also find Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel, and Dying Fetus on the same rack as Eric Clapton, Led Zeppelin, and Enya (at least you can at the Best Buy I go to). Children of Bodom, simply put, just isn't death metal by style.

I just call them metal. As far as I'm concerned, bands that don't have a blatantly obvious style description don't get one.

Maybe punk e.t.c are the greatest market ploys but you dont have to listen to them. If they like that music, then good for them.
I like Emo music, e.g Hawthorne Heights, Silverstein, Alexisonfire. Im 15. If you want to go and say the same about us all being conned then you do that. Emo music means something to me. The lyrics, the music. If you like a different kind of music that does the same to you, then good on you.
just respect other peoples music... you might not like it but other people will.
