You disagree with the statement that Sevendust can't compare to Iron Maiden? And you respond with "why bother anymore?" Now, I'm confused, please clue me in on this one.

What I meant to disagree with was the "insane genius" of Iron Maiden. However, I give up, as most people are probably every bit as fixed on their opinions as I am on mine.

Oh... ok. That's understandable. I had assumed the worst there for a moment. False alarm, everyone, there's nothing left to see here.

Yeah, I guess it's pretty sane genius. But still genius.

Don't get me wrong, I love Maiden! What I'm trying to convey is that they're so incredibly gifted, it's insane.
(But let's face it, they're not exactly normal... and that's a good thing)

If at first you don't succeed, you are obviously not Chuck Norris.

As you should have.
Not liking or at least GREATLY respecting Maiden is pure ignorance; it's the only band I'll say that about.

My .02:
Seems like this has turned into a "who's your favorite band" rather than "best band" thread. I'll include both here.
I believe that the Eagles are probably the best band ever. Just insane for many many reasons already covered here.
Now, my FAVORITE band of all time is Staind. Staind's music has matured and evolved as their lives have changed. Their music is undeniably honest, edgy and a real look into Aaron Lewis's screwed up mind. His voice is the strongest male voice I've ever heard, bar none. Best of all, they're REAL people. They aren't "rock n' roll", Aaron plays golf every day, then rocks hard every night. Nicest guys I've ever met. I could go on and on.
Other great bands:
Sevendust
Alice in Chains
Tool
A Perfect Circle

I didn't exactly expect them to be genetically engineered or some animal in disguise.

Hey, give him a break! Staind may be god-awful third wavers (sorry Scott), but he also likes A Perfect Circle and Alice in Chains, both of which are excellent bands.

I like the Eagles and they are one of my two favorites, the other would have to be Crosby, Stills & Nash. Steven Stills is a bada**

Ha! To each his/her own I guess. Yeah, I really dig APC and AIC and any other bands that start with "a" and end in "c", but Staind has made the biggest impression on me. Not because I had a terrible childhood and my daddy didn't love me, quite the opposite, but I just like how their music has evolved and they aren't multi-millionaires still complaining in their music about how tough life is. As for Outside, it's my least favorite song of theirs, but it was that song that put them on the map as far as being common place. Mudshovel was their first "real" song for radio release, but it was only played on "metal" stations. I go to the bathroom and get beer whenever I see him sit down on the stool with an acoustic at a concert because it's either going to be "outside" or "it's been awhile", which is also grossly overplayed. Doesn't make me dislike the band... just clearchannel.
