Description
In this blues orchestration tutorial we'll learn to move the familiar pattern of the earlier tutorials to any fretboard position by barring with the index finger and using it as a sort of movable capo. These new options will give us new skills and tools to play more varieties of blues type patterns!
Like earlier tutorials in this series we have two distinct, separate parts: a bass line & a repeated diad (two note "chord") on the E & B strings. You can play with a pick or your fingers of your picking hand. If you choose a pick, play the bass note as a down stroke, then cross over the strings, then play the higher string notes as an upstroke, then cross over the strings in order to get back in position to play the next bass note as a down stroke. If you choose to play with your fingers use your thumb for the bass notes & pluck the higher string notes with your index & middle fingers.
In this new blues orchestration lesson we are going to learn to move this familiar pattern to any fretboard position by barring with the index finger and using it as a movable capo. These new options will give us new skills and tools to play more varieties of blues type patterns!
