Description
Some rock solos are all about the attitude, while others are intricate and melodic. In this tutorial we’ll look at some ways to solo with a more melodic sound, creating an epic and emotional vibe with every note.
For these examples I’ll be using my usual basic tone coming from my Gretsch Duo Jet through my Ampeg tube amp. I’m using a fair amount of gain, coming from this Fuzz pedal, but you can use any type of overdrive, fuzz or distortion that you have. I’m also using a little more reverb than I normally do. Reverb helps make it extra epic and for that reason some people like to use a delay for this kind of vibe. There’s lots of space between the notes, so the extra tail can really get a chance to shine in this context.
