Description
The intro features a signature turnaround chord progression used throughout the song. The jazz influenced progression D, D#dim7, A, F#7#9, F9, E9, then back to A. It's important to get the western swing feel of the groove. Even though you are accenting on the beat with your strums, it's the ghost notes (upstrokes) in between that give the authentic feel.
Note the cool chromaticism throughout the progression (D, D#, E (5th of A), then F#, F, E. This kind of movement is typical of the style.
