This section is also the chord progression that's played under the chorus of the song. There are two guitar parts going on here: one is playing full sustained chords with a while the other is playing a melodic picking pattern based on the chord changes. The picking pattern has a triplet feel to it that layers nicely over the sustained chords. Here we'll be playing Abmaj7, F11, Cmin7.
And yes, sometimes there are major 7th chords in metal music ;) It's not what you play, but how you play it!
