Description
The verse uses a very fast blues based driving single note run combined with one finger power chords. This run uses a pedal point on the low C string. Incorporating the flat 5 in this run along with the drop tuning gives this progression what I like to call a dark, greasy sound to it. Mean and aggressive with a groove.
There is a pinch harmonic on the last note of the pattern. It's sounds like you would hit the string really hard to get this sound but the trick is that it is a very light touch of the edge of your thumb as you pick that brings out this harmonic. With a little practice you can combine a light touch with heavy rhythm to get the desired result.
Remember, the visual patterns on the neck will be different in drop C tuning than they normally would be!
