- Ibanez Talman - Decent Guitar. Good tone. I got mine 1 year old (but not used much at all) from the music minister at my church for $350. I'm about to get a new guitar, though)
- Peavey Rage - small, cheap (like $100-150) amp, but excellent tone, and since I mic my amp and run it through a PA system when I play for a crowd, my amp's output doesn't really have to be all that loud.
- RP200 (effects processor $180 - damn good distortion, delay, chorus, reverb, etc., but I can't find a natural sounding clean tone that I like)
- Radio Shack Gold Plated 1/8 Inch Cords (2, $40) - never a crack or pop or anything from these, and I happen to be the only person in my town (excluding companies) that has a charge account at Radio Shack, so I get a discount.
- Lots of Light Blue 1 mm Dunlop Tortex Picks ($.30) - There're probably 50 of these lying around my house under chairs and such... I lose picks faster than I lose socks.

Total Price - $670.30
"You must stab him in the heart with the Bone Saber of Zumacalis... well, you could stab him in the head or the lungs, too... and the saber, it probably doesn't have to be bone, just anything sharp lying around the house... you could poke him with a pillow and kill him."

I just got a simple set up, as I cant afford all these fancy processors pedal, etc.

1. Epiphone Les Paul Classic, Epiphone LP Slash Model, Squier Strat. Antonia electro-accoustic
2. Peavey 158 Rage 15 watt. It's only a lil practice amp.
3. Zoom Gfx 707

Lefty guitars: Ibanez PF series acoustic, Raven RP 450, Epiphone Special II.

Amp: Crate GFX 120 (120 watts?)

Effects: Boss: BF-2 flange, DD-5 delay, PH-3 phase. Dunlop: Crybaby wah wah

Misc. chords and picks. any advice on good picks for cheap? I've lost too many picks to pay a quater a piece.

End.

Question for the Dirt, have you ever tried running your RP-200 straight into the PA? I've heard the RP-200 has great tone when ran that way......

US Strat (her name is Vicki...she's autographed by Eric Johnson...my pride n joy)--->Ernie Ball volume--->Vox V847 Reissue with True Bypass---> Ibanez TS-9 (Tube Screamer)--->Fulltone 2 (blue)--->Dano Cool Cat--->Dan Echo--->Fender 4x10 Hot Rod DeVille. Boss TU12 tuner on an AB switch and the board is powered by a Juice Box. I love it...took a year in the making, but it's sweet as can be.

pstring, I've ran the RP200 straight into my computer before for line-in recording, and it sounds absolutely wonderful. I haven't yet tried plugging my RP200 directly into the PA system, because the way I usually go about getting on the PA is by putting a microphone in front of my amp. I'll try bypassing the microphone and plugging directly into the system, though. If it sounds as good as it does on my computer, I'll be quite happy.

btw, to anyone else that has an RP200, what settings do you personally use for your favorite distortion and clean tones?

1981 Rickenbacker 480 >>> Whirlwind A/B/Y box

A >>> DOD VGS50 multi effects pedal >>> Normal channel

B >>> direct to the Vibrato channel of a 1974 Fender Super Reverb amp.

I also have a 100 watt Marshall MOSFET head with a 4x10" Marshall slant cabinet and a MaxiMouse battery powered amp. The above though is my main/gigging setup.

Vox: 75
TS-9: 50

All right you ready!!!!!!!!!

Fender 69' thinline reissue telecaster(an awesome guitar, highly recomended)$450 with an upgraded texas special neck pickup$40, housed in a stylish tweed hardshell case!

To a Vision Wah (roger mayer, the best wah hands down) $359

into Maxon OD808 (great overdrive)$125

to Roger mayer Voodoo-1 distortion $159

To a Maxon Pro series OD820 (simply the best od bar none, its amazing) $200

TO my Roger Mayer Voodoo Vibe(quitisential hendrixian pedal that cost a fortune but is great) $350

To a Z vex Octane (awesome octave and fuzz effect) $240

To a z vex Lo-Fi Loopy Looper (brand new, just ordered it and should have it tomorrow) $309

To a 1978' MXR analog delay (a classic my fav delay around, Maxon also makes an awesome delay) $215

All going into a Fender Blues Jr amp 15 watts all tube awesome tone at a great price $285 with shipping on ebay you cant beat that.

I use a variety of connectors and couplers all of which are cheap but do the job my rig is quiet unless the t.v's on then I get some buzz and hiss.

I also have a Dunlop Hendrix moded pedal which is currently on ebay its a nice liitle pedal but no match for the vision wah, anyone interested I'll sell it for $75 it has a brand new hot pot in it.

For acoustic I have a great Martin D-16GT, it has solid mahogany back and sides that really make it a beauty the tone is wonderful. $700

And an epiphone SG bass which I actually just sold on ebay so I guess its not mine anymore or at least until I get paid for it.

The nausiating
mind numbing grand total I have spent or actually charged (my credit cards have been nearly maxed out on the quest for the ultimat tone is!!!!!!!Da Da DA!!!!!!!

$3707.00 I just almost threw up adding that up!!!!!!!!

But like I always say music gear is one of the most liquid assets around. If I wanted to I could sell everything I own in a week on ebay and get nearly all the money back, so dont hesitate to spend a few bucks my friends. Also take advantage of ebay its amazing!!!!! I kid you not!!!

I bought that '81 Ricky brand new for $445 in 1982. Very crisp sounding, maple body and neck, the "high gain" single coils give that Rick jangle, and it roars when driven; this ain't no one trick pony. Looks exactly like the common Rick bass.

Sad thing is I had a '73 480 (the original model year) that was ripped off in a burglary in '82.

ok mine is short and to the point:

OLP MM1-It's a low cost version of the Music Man model that Van Halen designed before he went to Peavey.I love the feel and the neck is great.I just got this not too long ago and it's now my main guitar. 180

Peavey Bandit Amp- 60 watts I bought this off a friend about 15 yrs ago and I still like it,since I am on a budget I can't go out and get something new butin the meantime I'll think I'll stay with ol faithfull here. 200

Boss BluesDriver pedal-nice little overdrive pedal. 70
Dunlop Crybaby Wah- Can't go wrong with this one but after reading about the new Boss wah pedal I may have to save up and try that one.60

So with all that and add in picks, cords and a slide or two,and a decent guitar strap I'd say my rig comes to about 600 total. I guess that's not bad right?
Can we have everything louder than everything else???

I am currently looking for a les paul. I dont know if I want a standard or a classic. I think I want a classic and so far a few people have said to go with the classic because of the thinner neck. How do you like your standard any problems with it or complaints.

I appreciate your time

I also got my vision wah today and for anyone who has not experienced this thing yet they are really missing out its the best wah there is no doubt about it, I dare anyone to challege that statement, they'd be just flat out wrong for those that dont believe try one out and you'll agree its just simply amazing. I never thought a wah could be so awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hey thomyorke....

i havent really had any real problems wiv the standard, the only thing is with it that its pretty dam heavy, but its well worth being a bit uncomfortable!

i suppose it depends on how far you can stretch to grab chords and to play basslines. if u have issues with the width of the fretboard then itd prob b wiser 2 go with the classic, but they-a gibsons a gibson!!
