For an electric guitar. Something that is budget yet does it all. I see people using footpedals but what is the next wave... like a digifoot pedal... Any suggestions?
Thanks!!!

Are you referring to an all in one processing unit? If so, what's your budget? Are you wanting a floor model or something that sits on your desk?

I've used the Behringer V-Amp, I currently own the Line 6 PodX3 as well as currently own the Boss GT10

The Behringer V-Amp is not a bad little starter unit. I'm sure there are others out there like it, I just happen to have experience with it.

The PodX3 is a HUGE step up from the V-Amp. It's got supporting software that you can use on your computer to control it. Or, you can simply control all it's setting directly on the unit itself.

Then there is the Boss GT10. My favorite. More spendy than the other two, but well worth it. There is also free software you can get for this unit as well to control it from your computer as well.

Both the PodX3 and GT10 work as interfaces which allow you to take a direct signal from them, pipe it into your computer via USB and record yourself.

These are just three options, there are many other manufactures and models.

I have a Digitech RP250 mfx pedal. Works great. I have since switched over to stomp boxes, but not because there was any problem with the pedal.

The great thing about mfx pedals is you can find one for every budget. Most reputable brands in the 150 - 500 range I'm certain will give you good results, you just need to pick the one you like.

You probably should look for ones that have USB connectivity. You might not plan to record now, but I can almost guarantee you will. In a pinch I have used my guitar pedal to record vocals and everything else. If you already have a means to record, then USB isn't so important.

A looper is a nice feature to get. Mine has none and I really wish it did. :(

One thing all pedals might have (but maybe not, so I`ll mention it), is a Line transformer built in. so the RP250 has a line transformer built in so you can plug the pedal into a mixer board. That can come in real handy to plug directly into a PA and have amps and all your effects available.
...so ever since then, I always hang on to the buckle.

I have the Boss ME 70 and darn it that thing rocks my world! I can get practically every tone I want, the options are really wide and is really easy to use. Has a memory bank and everything you can expect from Boss Multipedal.

You could get a POD XT Live on ebay for a very reasonable price. They may be a little old in terms of modeling/processing power, but i still have mine and it gets the job done!

I agree, I use the POD XT live and it is cool for any kind of music or sound. I would recommend not to use it to connect to an amp directly, but if you do don't use to much equalization from the amp. To get the best out of it I would rather use a valve premp (some years ago there was the Excalibur for example) such as Marshall preamps. From there you could go directly to a PA system when playing live.

I know this may sound ridiculous to many but if you are looking for one of the best all around guitar processors with all the Bells and Whistles plus a lot of stuff you might not use; check out the Fractal Audio Axe FX and the Digidesign Eleven. They are both rack effects processors with amp modeling, lots of presets and quite amazing algorithms. The sounds they can produce can be beyond my imagination. They are very expensive $1500-$2000, but if you want something to dream about, check out the sounds these units can give you on YouTube and their respective websites.

Couldn't find the homepage for Digidesign, but the Fractal Audio Axe FX sounds very cool! Cost may seem expensive, but considering high end pedals can be $300-$500 its not going to take too many additions to your pedalboard to equal the cost of the rack. Interesting how we are coming full circle and then some... 70's and early 80's were all about the pedals, late 80's/early 90's racks were THE thing to have, now we've gone back to pedals, now racks are getting interest again... but yeah, something like the Axe Fx is going to give you a very deep & wide palette from which to draw from.

If you like warm classic Rock tones, than you should definitely check out the Vox Tone Lab. I own one and the possibilities are endless and it is budget friendly. : )
