Just curious what movie had a long lasting effect on you after viewing it.
(I'm also bored as hell doing rex file conversions and need a break)

For me it'd probably be Blade Runner. First movie I ever rented and first time I ever used a VCR. Totally blew me away but also disappointed me when the voice-over came in cause it spoiled the mood.
Was really glad that years later there was a directors cut without the voice-over. Except he cut out the part where he pops the guys eyes out with his thumbs. The thing I remember most is about half way through the movie, realizing that I could actually put it on pause to go to the bathroom.
It sounds stupid now, but up until then, you were stuck watching a movie from beginning to end cause VCR's were about $1500.

Now it's freaky... I've got a DVR that records about 200 hours worth of stuff (after switching the hard drive for a 300gb) and have 180 shows and movies taped that I haven't watched yet.
Plus I haven't watched a commercial in over a year.

Hey, I'm rambling. woohoo....
I love cheese!!

Most effect...hmmm.

Probably Magnolia or Punch Drunk Love.

Then again the chainsaw massacre really f***ed me up for a while, it was my first horror flick.

Tough man. Very, very tough. At the moment, I'd say...American History X.

Can't answer this one. There've been a lot of movies that affected me in one form or another. Apocolypse Now messed with my head pretty well. But then so did The Godfather. Taxidriver is a movie that will screw you up too.

But I think Pulp Fiction had a long range effect. Heck, I'm still quoting that thing and ever since my divorce, I watch it every Christmas morning before heading out to see my family.

Man, I have got some serious issues.

And I love cheese too. As a matter of fact, I'm wearing some right now.

Easy one for me. I grew up watching old war movies with my dad (I have seen them all). My family has a longggg history in the military so I always had a sence of pride, respect, and gratitude towards anyone who answerd the call. I sat down and watched Saving Private Ryan and was blown away. It drove the fealing of pride, respect, and gratitude deep. My father reciving 2 purple hearts in Vietnam and a Grand father who was in "Bastone" ( watch band of brothers there is a whole episode for bastone) during WWII. Got to say that by far was a movie that made a huge impact in my life.
A man isen't measured by how far he has traveld in life, but how he made the jurney. ;)

Hmm.. definetely The Godfather, and more recentely The Departed. And a less serious movie that had a long lasting effect on me would probably be Office Space, in fact, I try to live some of my life based on example from that movie. It just makes me want to.... not do stuff, which is quite enjoyable.

Dead on with Office Space. When Peter is doing w/e he pleases and "damn it feels good to be a gangster" is playing, it makes smile with glee. I'd add Clerks to that list also, as thats the greatest piece of art my eyes have ever witnessed...well, that and Pulp Fiction.

I always found Braveheart and The Patriot pretty inspirational too. Movies based on wars before we had automatic weapons and airplanes are typically great.

When I watched "Forrest Gump," a couple years ago it put me into a several-month depression. I still don't know exactly why. I guess that was pretty life-changing.

"One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" and "Girl, Interrupted" still really get to me. I think I find it easier to relate to screwed-up characters or something.

YES, I love that montage, it just makes me feel great. And Clerks is really good too. Have you seen the original ending? pure genius. If you haven't, go to you tube and search clerks original ending.

I agree with this also. I haven't seen One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, but I have read it. It was great. I've gotta see it.

I don't know why but I like the movies and books that just make you feel like absolute crap in the end. Seems to help me put things in perspective in a sick and twisted way. Like "Requiem for a Dream" for example.

There are too many movies that gave something to my life, some of the top ones gotta be

- Se7en
- Magnolia
- Singles

There are tons and affect you in very different ways, just like music, happens to show up in your life and make you feel something especial.

My DVD collection is growing constanly, I have all kinds of movies from Jim's Jarmush "coffe and cigarretes" to funny flicks like "the ref"

I got the chance to go the superman premiere in mexico and a kid saw Kevin Spacey and said "look mom, there's Lex Luthor" and I turned into a friend joking bout that saying.... "no kid... he's Keyser Soze" :D
Power corrupts. Absolute power is kinda neat.

I'm not sure which movie had the biggest effect on me... but like Hunter I like Tarantino's work - Pulp Fiction & True Romance especially. Fight Club and American Beauty also struck a chord...

Wayne's World came out when I was in 6th grade and I know I've seen that movie over 20 times. Remember the white strat Wayne lusted over?

Later on in life I'd say movies that effected me more so were Donnie Darko, American Beauty, Full Metal Jacket, and the Notebook. Just kidding on the last one! Ha!

I forgot Ferris Bueller's Day Off, that movie goes right along with Office Space. It might have come out before I was born, but I've seen it so many times. More than 2 for sure. Probably about 25ish. Thats another movie that has influenced my everday life.
