What makes you play the guitar?
What is it about the guitar that drives you to play it and the type of music that you like to play?

Right on Tredkillah!
I could have done lots of things with my life, but I don't think I could do anything without music. So music is what I do.

The music is in us.
The wife bitches, women leave us, bill s come in at the wrong time, freinds let us down, unemployment all the **** life chucks at us mean's nothing when you pick up the guitar and play, freeing your mind letting the music breathe life and soul into us with each strike of the strings.
Without the guitar life would be hum drum.

To improve technique and of course trying to keep all as clean as possible. I know my own limits and speed limits and so on I never play anything I'm not capable of. That wouldn't make any sense. After three years of playing I tried to play everything as fast as possible and that sounded, I would say, like shit, and I didn't realize that if I'd play bit slower things than I was capable of playing then everything would sound much better.

I started in Grade 5, playing trumpet. By the time I got to High School, I was playing in the school orchestra, a marching band, and a drum'n'bugle corps.
I had a lot of trouble with chapped lips. Its a drag trying to play when your lip splits. So I took up guitar. At the time. (late '60s) , everyone was playing.
Like the song says, "I got the music in me". That's not a boast, even a mediochre musician has a need to play.
Its who we are.

You know, this is the question that we ask ourselves everyday, ands why we continiously try to find new way to be creative on this instrument. There are a lot of days, (through turmoil that we've suffered with friends, ex's) we just don't even want to look at a guitar, but if you're a true musician, where you just have the fire inside of you, its almost impossible to stay away. I love learning new things, whether it comes to music, or pertaining to different people that Ive let into my lives. I would have to say that Jimmy Page has been my primary influence over the past several years, and from listening to my favorite Led Zeppelin records over and over again, it reminds me why I picked up this instrument to begin with. And that was to learn from the master, and create my own untouchable style. But still, we create new reasons to stay motivated everyday with this instrument. Despite the fact that there isn't a wjhole lot to say in the music industry today, the artists from the past will never die, and I'm still learning from these amazing artists after all of these years...
I started on the panio, but wiyth the guitar there are just so many endless possibilities, and thats why Ive stuck with it...

The muse within inspires me to play, that and the want to be like greats and better than those untalented people out there (Oasis, Travis etc) and also the need to be noticed and identified as an individual with my own individual style taking aspects from different greats and blending them and my own features to express what i like to call...
Me.
Me.

I must say, Champagne Supernova is a really good song. But aftere that album, I donlt kno I kind of got the feeling that these guys were at loss for creativity. Don't get me wrong, these guys are talented, (and they're shows are pretty amazing) but it seems as if they have (unconsciously, if you will) have been re-hashing a lot of their previous tracks, because they are so afraid of breaking away from their original style.

Am I the only one that says the 3rd album was there best. I know the 4th one was ****e but their album of B-sides The Masterplan is sublimely better than most other normal albums Ive heard. The effort that Noel puts into the band is unbelievable, he writes and occasionally sings the songs and plays lead guitar plus he has to deal with that idiot Liam.

I'm not saying the songwritings bad(tho it has gone downhill since WTSMG), more the guitar playing, which again, isn't bad, but referring to the original subject, its the kind of thing i want to be better than. I do (did) consider Noel a good songwriter.

I play guitar pretty much religiously. Call it sad, or call it admirable. But for me (middle class, regular guy, never fancy) Guitar is Life and Life is Guitar. It may sound cheezy but my guitar is my existence I know nothing else and at timez when no one else is there my six string is always there for me.I play heavvy metal if you couldnt tell by my name, and playing Metallica and other Metal make life have a purpose. And while i play it for a short time life makes sense. Some may find me completely obsessive but others who have their heart in this as much as i do will feel my words.Good Luck to All Guitarists out there and may you find happiness in music.Amen and Halleluah.

i'm playing the guitar because i need to
it somewhat similar to the idea of Captain Crunch..
i mean i'm not one of the guys who can play 8-10 hours per day, but i'm playing the maximum i can, and i feel like i will die or something if i wont play at least 30-40 minutes per day.. i know it may sound stupid but once i was away from home for like 3 days, and it was some school trip and i was sitting and listening to some LZ record and then my hands started to shake, coze i couldnt just take a guitar and play with that record, and it was like a hit point when i understood that i really need the playing as much as i need to eat to sleep or anything else
