yeah man, verry nice !
Later in the evening
As you lie awake in bed
With the echoes from the amplifiers
Ringing in your head
You smoke the day's last cigarette
Rememb'rin' what she said

Try putting a echo with a delay time of about 0.1 sec and see what you think.

I did that last night in Pro Tools actually, didn't like it all that much. . . Getting a Phase 90 soon though, I'll do another when I get it. :)

Hmm...most of it was pretty off...especially the tremolo picking. Like, yeesh, the tremolo picking was way too slow. Tapping off timing in the left hand...

You've had five months to work on this challenge and the only parts played accurately or well were a couple legato runs.

I thought you said you could learn it in a week?

You might be able to pass that off on some people but not me. It was definatly off in more than a few places but cheers man if you even got that far in five months give it one two more you should have it nailed. I bet you feel silly saying you could learn it in a week huh?

Not bad but it was off in several places. You should have it nailed in another five months. :D
I am a constant evolving music machine. Oh Man, I just forgot what I was playing. Oh well, on to the next song.

Well I'm not a photo copier. When I set out to learn this song, I learned it to the point of liking what I heard. unlike most people I'm not out to clone the artists, simply o see what was going on in his head.

I play this song differently almost every time I do it, this was Take 5.

I'm not going to master every dive, and every single string he played, what good is that? Now I'm a first class clone.

I actually had this song to the point of recording it 3 days after this challenge started. And I did, I just never posted it.

Tapping timing is off in the end bit, but then I noticed I was playing it a bit different than Eddie, bit more complex. But no matter.

See, now though I have the ability to make non-guitar players go:

Which is quite entertaining to say the least. :)

Also, I see people talking about legato picking and all kinds of crap, I haven't a clue what that means, I'm an illiterate guitarist, kind of like being that way too.

Anyone else?

It's been three months now, if you count that is. I was just throwing out a number.

Happy Days!

I did better than: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5584763938424314580&q=eruption

and

and

Probably not better than:

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-9189757692788298955&q=eruption

Definatly not better than:

I'm still happy, and I'm still glad people pushed me to learn this song. :)

Tremolo picking. Legato picking doesn't exist. It's the parts where he picks the notes very very fast. You pick them way way WAY too slowly. Your tapping is still off timing, no matter how you play it, so complexity isn't that impressive unless it's done right. A pentatonic triplet is enough to make non-guitar players go  . We're not asking for a photocopy, we're asking for precise playing not mired in slow slop.

Sounds like you'd be pleased if I sped the recording up by 25%

Sometimes I get the tapping timed right, sometimes not, it's not exactly easy, especially for someone like me who went from Jimmy Page playing to Eddie Van Halen. Different ball-park.
