Actually the sea creature bit is a part of daily life and culture in Japan. It's a delicacy to eat live sea creatures, particularly small squid. I found it rather offensive myself and a little weird yet hey that's life and who am I to tell someone else what I feel is right or wrong. It did however make for a very interesting show on the travel channel on cable TV. AS gross and somewhat appaling as it was I couldn't peel my eyes from the TV. Aren't people funny in that respect sometimes?! I think so too. It's just a call to the wild I suppose and an unevolved primordial or primevil throwback possibly who knows. Life goes on, they eat live fish, they dont go buy it pre butchered and nicely displayed or wrapped so they are less civilized? probably right? eh!

anyway I saw a thread like this somewhere on some forum, it didnt last long and was closed, yet was very interesting while it lasted.

PS...The rape thing was dropped, til you brought it back up...haha
