Now it's time to play through this whole practice tune with the backing track. Feel free to just watch and listen as many times as you want to before you start playing along yourself.

I hope you've had a ton of fun with this practice tune. I'm sure there were challenging parts, but that's why you're here. Just keep working on it and get as many of these tricks and techniques as you can to be an active part of your arsenal. But it's also important to remember, that once you're in a real life playing situation you just play what you're good at.

Expanding your tool box and really challenging yourself is more something you do at home. Of course you may have a band where you're all learning together, and the lines between “in here” and “out there” can be very blurry. And that's a good things. All I'm trying to say is that it's helpful to have to frames of mind: one where you really put your playing under the microscope and try to do things you're not good at and one where you don't worry at all, play what you know you're good at and just have fun. That way you can play well “out there” and still grow and learn in your safe zone at home. Have fun with it!
