As always Caren is playing her vintage steel string 00 Martin guitar. But any guitar is suitable for playing along with this tutorial.

Dominant 7th Chords: Of all the seventh chords, perhaps the most important is the dominant seventh. Our song today will use all dominant 7th chords, a device very common to the blues genre. The Dominant 7th chord is full of tension and constantly seeks resolution, and yet in this form it's used continually to create a classic harmonic sound that identifies that we are playing The Blues!

Vamping: repeating either a chord or a couple of chords. Often used at the top of the tune as an opportunity for everyone to get in the groove, as in our song today. Some people vamp when they forget the words, or as a way to enter or exit a solo.

If you are not familiar with the "Basic Strum" please feel free to reference Caren's GT tutorial, "Better Strumming" as this tutorial presumes you are familiar with the "basic strum".
