Description
Several sections of the song use this strumming pattern, including part of the verses, the end of the chorus and the bridge. The bar is repeatedly divided between Am7 and G, and has a strong syncopated feel and requires the use of the skill "damping" or muting.
Since we're counting 16th notes, we need to respect the directionality aspect with regard to our right hand. We'll review how 16ths are counted and how it affects the right hand.
Combining this syncopation with the damping and creates a powerful groove that the singer uses several different ways by switching up her vocal register and changing how the lyrics scan over top.
