From Guitar Fundamentals and the previous tutorials, you know that one bar typically equals 4 beats: "1, 2, 3, 4". That's not always the case, but 90% of the time in rock music it is!
So now we're going to look at some ways to "subdivide" this bar, which means chopping it into smaller pieces. First let's look at what's called "whole notes" and "half notes", and then we'll play through an example that shows you how these subdivisions are used in a rock context.
